The new look Upminster 5’s took to the field against Braintree Vets with a mixture of old heads and new blood. The game was a real seesaw affair with Upminster twice leading and letting it slip due to some defensive errors from the more experienced players. The age range of the team was perfectly summed up by the goal scorers, Lester Farrant at 60 scored a hat trick and Ellis Pickering at 13 scored on his debut as well as being voted man of the match. There were 3 other debutants for Upminster, all of which were praised by the opposition for how the played the game. Well done to Ben Baker and Ciaron Loman, both 13 and Phil Banks who has recently taken up hockey. An encouraging performance and a great spirit that bodes well for the rest of the season.
