Upminster started the game sluggishly and quickly found themselves 2-0 down. The team then rallied to bring the game back to 2-2 through goals from D. Hadsley and a great reserve stick strike into the top corner from J. Cipa (returning to the team after a 4 year absence). However, the comeback was short-lived and Broxbourne once again took the lead before the first half was out.
The second half was a little less frantic than the first with both teams seemingly figuring each other out. Broxbourne although broke that deadlock with a well worked 4th.Upminster struck back almost instantaneously through S.Wright but were unable to find an elusive equaliser.
A disappointing start to the season for the 1’s but they will look to bounce back straight away by taking their fine home form from last season into the first home game of the season next week.
