UHC M1s [4 v 0] Wapping M3s – 1st December 2018

Upminster’s men made it three wins in a row in East League Division One with a 4-0 home victory over Wapping thirds last weekend.

Buoyed by previous successes over Wisbech Town and Sudbury, they hosted a Wapping side sitting above them in the table.

Knowing a win was needed to maintain hopes of securing the title in the new year, they produced another impressive display to easily dispatch the opposition.

Wapping were kept at bay for the majority of the afternoon, restricted to a couple of short corner opportunities despite having their share of possession.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the field, Upminster took their chances on the break, with quick incisive interplay troubling Wapping’s defence time and again and leading to goals from Nick Harris, Alex Mitchell, Ollie Cipa and Steve Wright.

The win leaves Upminster in third place, just one point behind Wapping and four adrift of leaders Sudbury at the halfway stage of the campaign.

They are set to travel to Old Southendian this weekend in their last fixture of 2018, then host Harleston Magpies seconds back at Coopers in their first match of 2019 on January 12.
