Upminster Ladies [1s] 0 v 2 Bishops Stortford Ladies [1s]

Both clubs in mid table and equal on points the visit of Bishops Stortford Ladies 1st team was always going to be a tight match.

With rain pouring down, conditions were not ideal in what was a little bit a damp squib of a game for the home side. Upminster had most of the possession but failed to make any of their territorial advantage pay in the opponents final 25. A couple of PCs broke down and then the away side capitalised on a slight lapse of concentration at the back to take a 1-0 lead at the break.

As a repeat of the 1st half, Upminster were pushing hard for an equaliser through POTM Robyn Hodges but the Bishops Stortford back line stood strong. The away side’s use of the ball improved and they began to take a little bit more control in the game and were rewarded when a Penalty Flick was given and dispatched to give the away side a fine 2-0 win. DOTM and Captain Faye Dixey rallied the team in search for a goal but it just wasn’t going to their day.

Upminster must now pick themselves up next Saturday as they travel to Old Loughtonians looking to move back up the table rather than down.
