UHC Men 6’s Development Team (2 v 1) Old Loughtonians 8’s

Saturday saw the Men 6’s Development Team travel to Old Loughtonians for our third match of the season. Four separate father/son combinations featured in this match, including debut appearances for goalkeeper Joseph Banks and defender Phil Banks.  Old Loughts quickly scored with a spectacular diving deflection, putting the pressure on Upminster to respond. The youngsters applied pressure with Thomas Nutt, Ollie Johnson and Oliver Jones in midfield, forcing Old Loughts to defend in numbers however the first half ended with no changes to the scoreline.

Second half saw Jacob Eade and Max Malby combining well but unfortunately couldn’t break through the defence and score. Old Loughts managed to score with an unstoppable top corner shot against the run of play to make it 2-0 up. Ewan Lowrie, Lewis Munn and Noah Honeywell worked hard in midfield allowing Phil Banks to score against Old Loughts. Joseph Banks produced several fine saves but alas the game finished 2-1.
