1st Half
Composed defending by both sides restricted initial play to outside the D, Megan Miller, Alexa Marston , Amy Byrne (Player of Match) and Lucy Falzon continually pressed forward looking to create openings.
Byrne’s determined drive saw her find Kerry Hodges in space, remaining calm Hodges slipped the ball past the Keeper on 24 mins 1-0.
In search of the equaliser a determined drive towards the goal along the backline saw Charlotte Triggs (Joint Defender of Match) save well as the forward closed in.
A misplaced pass by Upminster enabled Magpies to force a S/Corner, having created space an opportunity on goal was taken as the strike evaded the defenders 1-1 on 27 Mins.
With Lauren Slater- Harvey (Joint Defender of Match) Rosie Pettingill, Bella Boyle & Drew Bailey constantly looking to clear play downfield , Pettingill found Coco Thomas her drive towards the Magpies D earned a S/Corner opportunity as the half came to an end.
2nd Half
With Izzy Uzal finding room to press forward and Quinlan available in space to drive to the D, a clear opportunity evaded Upminster as Magpies defended in numbers, whilst Bailey’s defensive covering ensured Magpies were kept at bay , when an opportunity did arise Triggs was equal to the effort saving a low strike with her stick.
Good link up between Miller and Uzal created a chance for Quinlan which the Keeper saved.
As both sides searched for the breakthrough Two S/Corner efforts from Upminster were defended well whilst Magpies own S/Corner was blocked by Byrne.
A final press forward saw Magpies split the Upminster defence, as the forward closed in on goal Triggs diving save sent the effort wide
