UHC Club Captains Update

Hi all,

Just a quick message from your friendly Club Captains Jack & Kez.

We cannot believe that there are only 6 games left (for some teams 7) before the hockey season comes to an end. With this in mind, there are a few points we would like you all to consider for the remainder of the season.

The first point is to remind you all to be set up on our new Teamo app and to the England Hockey Game Management System (GMS). If you aren’t set up on both systems, then you will be ineligible to play next season

So, what is Teamo and GMS?

Teamo is an easy to use mobile app which aids our Captains to view player availability and to assist with selecting our teams every week. It also helps players by listing match details and provides an easy way to pay match fees electronically. Please download the app and follow this link https://web2.teamo.chat/club/register/upminsterhc.

Should you experience any problems our very own Phil Hudson is the Teamo Guru and will be only too happy to help. His contact details are: members@upminsterhc.co.uk

The England Hockey Game Management System (GMS) is a new online system which is being used to record game, and player, data from across the various hockey leagues in the UK. It is a requirement from England Hockey that all clubs, and players, are registered to the system for the start of next season. Therefore, please register by using the following link gms.englandhockey.co.uk.

Next, we would like to discuss post match teas and how they play a big part of Hockey etiquette. Players are encouraged to attend teas both home and away. They are an integral part of the team building and help reinforce the connection between players, opposition and umpires. Our new Bar Managers, Andrea & Tony, are at the clubhouse every Saturday and cater for all dietary needs (And it is excellent food!). It is important that you let your Captain know if you are attending along with dietary needs when confirming your availability each week. Please make a big effort for the last part of the season, that is usually where you will find us!!

We would also like to take this opportunity to discuss umpires and our behaviour towards them. Umpires are a vital part of our game, and without them, we simply would not be able to play the game we all enjoy. Unfortunately, there have been occasions recently where players have not agreed with an umpire’s decision and have spoken to them in a disrespectful manner. This is NOT acceptable and will not be tolerated. It is against everything we stand for at Upminster Hockey club. Therefore, we kindly ask that you show all umpires the respect they deserve at all times. ‘Be kind whenever possible, it is always possible”

Lastly, we hope you all enjoy the remaining games of the season and look forward to hearing about your results, goals and funny moments. We also look forward to seeing you down the clubhouse whether it’s for a quiet drink, or one of our awesome socials!

Come on the mighty U’s!!!

Your Men and Ladies Club Captains,

Jack Coleman and Kerry Hodges
