Bishops Stortford 1st X1 (5 v 1) UHC Ladies 1st X1 – 9th December 2023

1st Half

Bishops Stortford quick fast passing play had Upminster defending deep from the push back , long direct passes from their defensive line to the top of the Upminster D had Stortford continually threatening in and or around the area, Keeper Charlotte Triggs (Defender of Match) was called upon numerous times firstly making a stick save followed by a double body save and then smothering at the forwards feet as Stortford looked to open the scoring,.

Upminster’s defence worked tirelessly to restrict efforts on goal but they were unable to do anything with the straight strike deflection from a S/Corner and with pressure mounting a precise pass to the top of the D found a forward with time to turn the defender and pass into the corner 2-0.

Looking to pass out long from the back Upminster’s Jemma Cresswell, Drew Bailey and Imogen Hodges looked to make inroads into the Stortford D but they were kept at bay .

Continuing to press forward a Stortford forward was able to evade oncoming Keeper Triggs and send the ball goalwards from the by-line the effort cleared by the retreating defender’s body resulting in a Penalty Flick which was put away via the post 3-0.

Upminster looked to get into the game with Riva Siggins, Cresswell & Bailey working together forcing a S/Corner the strike going wide.

Stortford’s quick movement and passing across the pitch involving four players was finished off as the ball was swept in as Triggs came out 4 -0.

2nd Half

Upminster upped their game in the 2nd Half moving the ball quicker Meg Miller, Siggins, Hodges and Uzal pressed forward forcing a S/Corner and with Upminster having more of the ball Alexa Marston was able to create space dribbling past players towards the Stortford D whilst having linked up with Freya Long saw Long test the Stortford Keeper. Stortford’s passing continued to create space in the forward area ,the Upminster Defence being unable to relax saw goal bound efforts continually saved by Triggs whilst a number of S/Corners were cleared away.

With Siggins working tirelessly to stretch the Stortford defence, a mazy run through midfield by Uzal enabled her to find Siggins who was able to finish well as the Keeper closed in on her. 4-1.

Upminster continued to play forward but Stortford’s pressing continually kept the Upminster defence busy and following further smothering saves by Triggs and with numbers in the Upminster D following a S/Corner the ball was forced over the line the game finishing 5-1.
