Brentwood Academy [1 v 3] Upminster M5s

With just one defeat all season, Upminster Mens 5s were looking to take their fine form just down the road to Brentwood.

The match started brightly for both sides before Upminster started to take a foothold in the game and created the best chances with MOTM Ollie Peck going close on a couple of occasions. But it was Brentwood who took the lead half way through the 1st half, when a PC was converted with a fine strike from the top of the D. Upminster regrouped and again took control of the game with Hodges, Jolly, Doyle, Hewitt all combining well in midfield forcing further chances. This was finally rewarded when Peck equalised after converting a PC into the bottom right of the Brentwood goal.

At half-time, Upminster felt that the game was there for the taking and better use of the final ball would only lead to goals. It was a fine move from Upminster that saw Doyle feed Jolly who drove into the D before hitting a shot goalwards which was deflected past the home side’s goalkeeper. Brentwood then changed formation pushing men forward and Upminster were thankful that DOTM John Daltry kept everything out the Brentwood threw at him. With just a couple of minutes to go Upminster won a PC which Peck converted for his 2nd goal of the game and win the game 3-1.

On Saturday, Upminster face one place higher in the table Braintree Academy who will certainly test the U’s unbeaten record.
