1st Half
Working hard to take the game to Norwich Dragons Lucy Falzon, Izzy Uzal and Alexa Marston were constantly intercepting play pressing Upminster forward finding Lucy Quinlan, Lucy Rolfe and Drew Bailey eager to take the ball wide and towards Dragons D.
Apart from an Uzal effort just off target Upminster were unable to create any meaningful opportunity to test the Dragons GK.
Dragon’s long ranging passes across the pitch continually stretched Upminster’s defence, despite Imogen Hodges, Rosie Pettingill, Bella Boyle & Lauren Slater-Harvey working hard to keep them at bay but a deflected Penalty Corner and a back post tap in saw Upminster go in 2-0 down at half time.
2nd Half
With the Coach’s words still ringing in their ears Upminster were quickly on the front foot denying Dragon’s any space to play their game, Uzal making herself busy around the Dragons defence. Continuing to press high Kerry Hodges quick anticipation enabled her to intercept the ball and from the edge of the D sent the ball into the corner of the goal reducing the deficit. Applying constant pressure, play was centered around the Dragon’s area with opportunities falling for Amy Byrne and Rolfe, Falzon’s interception enabled Byrne to work the ball across the Dragon’s D to the unmarked Marston to square the game 2-2. In search of a winner Upminster were unable to create a clear chance whilst forward Rolfe tracked all the way back to her own area to deny an opportunity and GK Triggs was called upon to smother an oncoming attacker.
