Upminster Men’s 2 were looking to bounce back after a disappointing defeat last week when they travelled to Saffron Walden who are currently sit top of the Division 3SE.
It was a tight opening half with little chances between the 2 teams. Phil Hudson came closest when his reverse shot hit the post but the danger was cleared.
Not much changed in the 2nd half but Upminster Men’s 2s started to push forward in search for the opening goal. Will Doyle was a constant threat down the right of the UHC side and a close range effort went just wide from Steve Wright.
The breakthrough finally came with 7 mins to go when Ollie Cipa sent a PC flick straight past the Saffron Walden GK. With just 2 mins to go Saffron Walden finally managed to break the UHC backline with a back post shot past the DOM Tom Marsden.
It was a tough late goal to take but probably a fair result overall.
DOM – Tom Marsden
MOM – Rob Bugeya
