1st Half,
Quick movement and passing by St Albans had Upminster on the back foot early on, once settled Upminster’s forward play and persistence around the D forced 3 Short Corners which they were unable to convert.
Breaking out of defence St Albans forced a Short Corner from the injection a reverse pass enabled the St Albans forward time and space to drill a shot past the on rushing defenders 1-0 on 13 Mins.
With numbers forward St Albans kept the pressure on the Upminster defence with Lauren Slater-Harvey GK Charlotte Triggs and Bella Boyle focused and alert opportunities were restricted and the danger cleared.
With Megan Miller driving Upminster forward 2 further Short Corners were gained but again not taken advantage off.
2nd Half
An early St Albans Short Corner came to nothing and following a loose ball in the Upminster D Triggs and Slater-Harvey combined to clear.
Pressing forward for the equaliser Drew Bailey, Izzy Uzal, Coco Thomas and Lucy Quinlan continually took play in to the St Albans D but with numbers back Upminster were unable to create a clear opportunity.
Pressing forward Upminster were subject to the quick counter attack but tireless work from Boyle and Rosie Pettingill kept them at bay.
With both Teams overturning possession a late drive and strike by Slater-Harvey was skilfully defected goal wards by Alexa Marston and only a reflex action by the Keeper prevented an equaliser.
As time ticked down Amy Byrne took Upminster forward from deep in her own half but despite forcing a further Short Corner Upminster were unable to level the score.
