Upminster 1st XI secured their first win of the 2023 campaign with a win at St Albans in a closely fought contest.

Upminster started strong and managed to secure the lead with a well-placed goal from Callum Berry. The first half saw good hockey being played from both sides and it was St Albans who struck back close to half time. 1-1 at the break. Upminster started the second half well and scored an early fluid team goal which was put away by Josh Cipa.

Upminster continued to apply pressure and scored their 3rd of the game with a powerful drag flick from Ollie Cipa. The game continued and St Albans fought back until the last minute. Albans scored a well worked short corner routine and the remaining 10 minutes were heavily contested from both sides. However, it was Upminster who secured all 3 points by scoring a well worked back post short corner routine for the win.

UHC M1’s are at home to Old Loughtonians next week where they will look to build on this positive performance.
