U18 Hockey Players Safety

Dear Parents
I am sure the safety of your Children when playing hockey is of the utmost importance as it is for the coaches and coaching assistants at Upminster Hockey Club.
While we cannot completely rule out players getting injured while playing and training, Upminster Hockey Club advise that you consider providing hockey players with the following protective equipment.
  1. Shin guards – We advise players to have hockey shin guards and not football shin pads. Football pads are not generally strong enough to protect you against a hockey ball.
  2. Mouthguards – We advise players to have a good quality mouthguard that fits the player correctly.
  3. Footwear – We advise players to wear the appropriate footwear whilst on the astroturf. General trainers or football boots are not appropriate, we advise a good pair of astro trainers.
If you need any advice regarding any of the above please do not hesitate to speak to one of the coaches after the training sessions.
Many thanks and regards
