UHC L1s [4 v 1] Tunbridge Wells L1s – 02.01.19

On Saturday 2nd February, Upminster Ladies 1st Team welcomed the visit of Tunbridge Wells Ladies 1st Team on a bitterly cold afternoon.

Upminster started poorly as Tunbridge Wells were much the better side, forcing Upminster into uncharacteristic mistakes and kept conceding possession of the ball on numerous occasions. This was punished when a Tunbridge Wells took the lead with a fine hit from the top of the ‘D’ from a PC. The goal seemed to spark some life into the home side and were quickly back on level terms when a well worked goal was hit home from POTM – Michelle Dixey. 2 more goals came from Upminster PCs when Dixey and Marston both found the net after initial shots had been blocked.

With a 3-1 lead at half-time Upminster were back in control with DOTM Lauren Slater-Harvey working tirelessly at the back to stop any threat from Tunbridge Wells. Eventually the U’s added a 4th goal from Riva Siggins who hit a reverse shot into the bottom corner. Further chances were created but the U’s couldn’t add to their total. Another 3 points keeps the promotion chasing UHC Ladies 1st team level on points with East London at the top of Div 1 South League.

POTM: Michelle Dixey
