UHC M2s v Thurrock M1s – 15th October 2022

Upminster Men’s 2s were back in action on Saturday 15th October facing an unbeaten Thurrock Men’s 1 team who had won all of their previous 3 fixtures.

Upminster started the game completely on the front foot and dominated the early action created chance after chance. They were rewarded when TJ Mason got into a great position at the back post to tap in the opener. The U’s extended their lead when Steve Wright hit a thunderous strike from a PC to double the score.

The U’s seemed to take their foot off of the gas and managed to let Thurrock back into the game when a PC was flicked past the U’s defenders to reduce the scoreline to 2-1 at the break.

After the break the U’s continued to push forward for the third goal but were almost caught out when a quick break was well defended from Mit Shah and Defender of the Match – David Young. The U’s got back in control of the game and created some great chances that Steve Wright, Ellis Pickering and Michael Scrivener were unable to convert. Finally a deflected PC from Player of the Match – Ally Stewart gave some breathing space for the U’s but  this was no more than what they deserved from a good performance.

The U’s remain unbeaten with 2 wins & 2 draws from their opening 4 fixtures. A mini break takes place before the Men’s 2s head off to visit Crostyx 3s on 29th October.

MoM – Ally Stewart
DoM – David Young
