UHC Men’s 2s (6 v 1) Maldon Men’s 1s – 04.11.23

After a terrific victory away at Chelmsford 3s before the mini break, Upminster 2s returned to action on Saturday 4th November looking for back to back wins for the first time this season when Maldon 1s visited the world famous Coopers Arena.

It was a bright start for the home side who quickly went ahead after a good move down the right ended with an assist for Gus Siggins who cut the ball back for Chris Eggleton to score. This was swiftly followed up when George Chiverton broke through clean on goal to double their lead when his initial shot was saved but he put away the rebound to make it 2-0 at half-time.

Maldon started the second half looking to cut the deficit and forced an early Penalty Corner but this was defended well from the home team. Upminster then really got into their stride and scored through a sweet strike from Steve Wright from a narrow angle. A slick move down the right hand side saw Eggleton set up Chiverton for his 2nd goal of the game with a back post finish. Will Doyle made a powerful run and offloaded a ball into the D to Ryan Hodges who found Steve Wright for his 2nd goal before Hodges got onto the scoresheet with another back post tap in.

With the home team in total control, Maldon broke quickly and scored a late consolation goal for the game to finish 6-1 to the Men’s 2s.

Men’s 2s travel away to Saffron Walden 2s at the weekend to look to carry on their good form.
