UHC Women 1st X1 (1 v 0) Cambridge City 3rd X1 – 16/11/24

1st Half

A bright start by Upminster saw Izzy Uzal (Joint Player of Match) break forward into the Cambridge D forcing a S/Corner.

From the injection, Drew Bailey’s strike was deflected goal wards but was stopped by the Defenders facemask, resulting in a Penalty Flick which Megan Miller calmly put away 1-0 on 7mins.

As Upminster looked to increase their lead Miller, Alexa Marston, Amy Byrne and Lucy Quinlan regularly combined looking to create an opportunity, Byrne’s determined break into the Cambridge D saw her effort go wide whilst Uzal was constantly testing the Cambridge defence from out wide.

With Upminster unable to make the most of their forward play and Cambridge unable to make any inroads into the Upminster D chances were few and far between.

2nd Half

Upminster looked to up the tempo as the 2nd half began, with Miller, Quinlan, Marston, Imogen Hodges and Lucy Falzon (Joint Player of Match) pressing forward.

In search of an equaliser Cambridge forced Three S/Corners but in (Defender of Match) Rosie Pettingill and Lauren Slater-Harvey they came up against a determined Upminster defence.

Despite both sides’ efforts, possession continued to be overturned and with neither side able to create a scoring opportunity, Upminster saw out the game to win 1-0.

Result 1-0
