1st Half
A fast start by Bury St Edmunds had Upminster defending deep in their own half, a long ball towards the D and pass across the area was seized upon by the Bury forward who finished from a yard out with 3 Mins on the clock.
With Upminster under pressure and Bury continuing to press forward in numbers, a strike from the top of the D found its way through the defence making 0-2 on 6 Mins.
Raising the tempo Megan Miller took Upminster forward , good interchange play between Bella Boyle, Drew Bailey and Izzy Uzal created an opportunity and despite the Keeper’s efforts Kerry Hodges was able to squeeze the ball across the line 1-2 on 23 mins.
Having reduced the deficit Upminster defence remained focused and resolute with (Defender of Match) Keeper Charlotte Triggs making several crucial saves.
With Uzal and Lucy Quinlan stretching the Bury defensive line Upminster pressed forward, some good link up play between Bailey, Lauren Slater-Harvey gave Miller the opportunity to test the Keeper, despite Miller’s effort being blocked the ball fell to (Player of Match) Alexa Marston to level the score on 28 Mins.
2nd Half
From the restart Miller, Kerry & Imogen Hodges pressed forward as Upminster went in search of the next goal an early Short Corner went astray, whilst Bury’s downfield passes kept Upminster’s defence focused, with Triggs being quick off her line to deny one attack and blocking another effort by the post.
As both sides looked to impose themselves, a determined drive to the Bury area from deep in her own half by Byrne almost resulted in Upminster taking the lead.
With Marston, Quinlan and Coco Thomas pressing forward at every opportunity Upminster gained several more Short Corners but were unable to capitalise on them.
