1st Half
Entertaining newly promoted St Albans 2nd X1 on Saturday, a missed timed tackle on the base line gifted St Albans the lead with a simple tap in after jsut 30 seconds.
Megan Miller, Amy Bryne & Lucy Falzon were prominent in midfield continually overturning possession, forcing St Albans deeper into their own half.
With Izzy Uzal, Kerry Hodges, Coco Thomas & Lucy Rolfe pressing high, opportunities were being created, Izzy Uzal’s effort well saved by the Goalkeeper whilst several Penalty Corners were defended well or with efforts just off target.
When St Albans did venture forward they were well marshalled by Lauren Slater-Harvey, Bella Boyle & Drew Bailey restricting them to long passes towards the Upminster area.
2nd Half
Upminster continued to press forward , on 39 mins a Penalty Corner saw the St Albans GK make a double save, the ball rebounding to Kerry Hodges who finished well to make it 1-1.
Continuing to press forward Izzy Uzal won possession high upfield, putting her one on one with the GK making no mistake as she calmly made it 2-1 on 45 mins.
Pressing forward St Albans gained two Penalty Corners in quick succession from the 2nd the ball was deflected high past GK Charlotte Triggs making it 2-2 on 55 Mins.
As play became more open Upminster’s defensive unit remained focused restricting St Albans to outside the D whilst Upminster’s own forward movement saw them press into the St Albans area earning two Penalty Corners but being unable to create any clear shooting opportunities.
