Upminster [L1s] 4 v 2 Chelmsford [L2s]

Upminster ladies 1st team started the new season with a strong 4-2 home win against Chelmsford ladies 2nd team.

Neither team threatened to take a hold of the game in the early stages but Chelmsford made the breakthrough when a hit into the ‘D’ was tapped in at the far post. Upminster hit back with a fine goal from Jemma Cresswell to make the score level at the break.
Upminster came out much the better team in the 2nd half and were rewarded when good work from Alexa Marston set Riva Siggins up to score from close range. Niamh Robeson then hit a PC low into the goal and Jemma Creswell rounded off her PoM award when she broke clear, rounded the goalkeeper to score her 2nd goal of the game from a very tight angle. Chelmsford pulled a goal back from a well worked short corner but Upminster held on with strong defensive work from DoM Rosie Pettingill to run out 4-2 winners.
Next week the U’s travel to the Lee Valley Hockey Centre to face Crostyx 1st X1.
