1st Half
Upminster began quickly and with searching balls into the Sudbury D were constantly threatening the Sudbury goal, when the attacks broke down and Sudbury came forward they found the Upminster Defence hard to breach with Lauren Slater-Harvey, Bella Boyle & Ellen Kozlowska strong in the tackle and clearing any danger before any opportunity arose for an effort on goal.
With Lucy Falzon busy in midfield and picking up any loose passes Upminster always looked to press forward with Alexa Marston, Amy Byrne, Imogen Hodges, Megan Miller busy looking for openings in and around the Sudbury D.
With Amy Byrne & Imogen Hodges linking up well the Sudbury GK was called into action making a good reaction save, further good movement and passing between Isabella Uzal & Riva Siggins earned Upminster a Short Corner from which Lauren Slater-Harvey’s well struck drive was once more well saved by the Sudbury GK.
With continued swift passing Upminster continued to make inroads into the Sudbury D with Amy Byrne a constant threat with the Sudbury GK out to smother her as she bore down on the goal.
As the pressure mounted Megan Miller moved the ball down the line and evading the Sudbury defender crossed the ball into the D, with lots of players in the area and unable to clear the ball away it fell to Jemma Cresswell to dispatch the ball into the goal making it 1-0 on 32 Mins.
2nd Half
In the 2nd Half Upminster took the game forward looking for openings and opportunities to increase their lead continually moving the play out of defence and sending balls down the line stretching the Sudbury defence.
Moving the ball quickly out of defence and with slick interchange passing Upminster continued pressing forward on the attack looking to keep the ball in the Sudbury half.
With play contained in the Sudbury half Upminster gained a Short Corner, from the edge of the D Ellen Kozlowska’s shot towards the Goal was anticipated and seized upon by Jemma Cresswell who deflected it past the Sudbury GK making it 2-0.
With Upminster not letting up an interception in midfield was driven towards the Sudbury D by Riva Siggins who having drawn the GK out, unselfishly squared the ball for Alexa Marston to make it 3-0.
Upminster continued to press forward working the ball across the pitch and into the D but were unable to add to their score.
