Upminster Ladies 1’s 4-1 Letchworth Ladies 1’s – 04.02.23

1st Half 

An early pressing drive down the wing into the D by Riva Siggins resulted In  a short corner to Upminster, from the injection Bella Boyle’s effort was deflected into goal by the alert Kerry Hodges giving Upminster the lead on 2 Mins 1-0. With Letchworth moving the ball around and pressing forward in search of an equaliser the Upminster defence remained defiant with GK Triggs saving a goal bound effort.

As Upminster continued to move the ball out wide they constantly found Riva Siggins, Megan Miller & Drew Bailey eager to drive in towards the Letchworth D earning Upminster several Short Corners which despite keeping the ball in and around the D did not generate any clear chances.

With Letchworth looking to push forward through midfield they gained two short corners of their own but could also not generate any clear chances.

With both Teams looking to gain the upper hand good link up play between Lauren Slater-Harvey, Bella Boyle, Riva Siggins & Kerry Hodges resulted in a snapshot that tested the Letchworth keeper

As Letchworth pressed forward they found Rebecca Pearson and the Upminster Defence resolute and able to clear the danger.

On 35 Mins forceful drive out of Defence and pass into the Letchworth D by Ellen Kozlowska found Izzy Uzal who with her back to goal managed to find enough room to send a reverse shot pass the defenders and GK into the goal making it 2-0 at Half Time.

2nd Half 

With Upminster looking to play down the wings and press in towards the Letchworth D Letchworth were able to counter attack when play broke down forcing Upminster back but with both Defence’s composed, chances were limited with GK Triggs saving a cross shot and diving at an attackers feet allowing the Defence to clear the danger.

With Midfield proving to be a constant tussle to gain the upper hand and advantage, Amy Byrne & Alexa Marston featured strongly continually looking to move Upminster forward but any attack into the Letchworth D failed to generate a clear opportunity to make the game safe.

Miscommunication by Upminster on the edge of the D allowed Letchworth to capitalise on the loose ball sending a shot goalwards which was deflected in reducing the scoreline to 2-1 on 67 Mins.

With time running down Upminster moved the ball out wide and drove forward into the Letchworth D earning a short corner, as Letchworth readied themselves the injection was drilled goalwards by Lauren Slater- Harvey and nestled into the far corner 3-1 to Upminster.

With time almost up a through pass splitting open the Letchworth backline found Riva Siggins bearing down on the goal , keeping her composure she was able to round the GK and although Defenders were closing down on her she was able to score Upminster’s 4th Goal,

With no time to restart the game Upminster won 4-1.
