1st Half

Chelmsford’s early high press had Upminster defending deep ,with Upminster’s long passes out from the back quickly intercepted, Chelmsford forced an early S/Corner coupled with a timely interception by (Defender of Match) Lauren Slater- Harvey and GK Triggs called upon twice to save at the forwards feet Chelmsford were prevented from opening the scoring.

When Upminster found their passing range Siggins was able to use the space out wide to work the ball into the Chelmsford D forcing two S/Corners in quick succession, Slater-Harvey’s shot being saved by the Keepers outstretched leg and from open play Lucy Falzon found Freya Long who was denied by the Keepers quick reactions to block her.

As Upminster moved play forward a miss placed pass outside their own area saw Chelmsford send a quick pass into the D finding a forward in space who swept the ball past the diving Triggs 1-0 (18 Mins), as Upminster went in search of an equaliser Chelmsford’s play out from their defensive line saw them exploit space in behind the Upminster defence resulting in 2 v 2 attack which saw their effort strike the post.

Continuing to play out from the back saw Bela Boyle, Drew Bailey , Siggins & Jemma Cresswell threaten the Chelmsford D as Half Time came.

2nd Half

Looking to keep possession Upminster moved the ball around a hard drive into the Chelmsford D by Boyle saw the rising ball dispatched into the goal by Falzon 1-1 on 51 Mins.

With Siggins , Marston & Bailey battling hard and tireless running from Falzon & Cresswell Upminster looked to keep the pressure on Chelmsford and with Chelmsford quick to seize on any miss placed passes Upminster’s defence could not relax.

As Chelmsford worked their way into the D their forward created space and sent a shot through several defenders and past the unsighted Triggs to re take the lead 2-1.

Upminster continued to press forward with Siggins & Cresswell combining to force a S/Corner which the Keeper saved whilst Long just failed to get on the end of a through ball, the busy Falzon though was quick to overturn play just outside the Chelmsford D sending her pass to the unmarked Megan Miller who guided the ball goal wards past advancing Keeper 2-2.

With both teams looking for the winner Upminster forced a S/Corner as time up sounded , despite their best efforts Chelmsford’s Keeper and defence were able to clear the ball out of the D.
