Upminster [M1s] 4 v 6 Bishops Stortford [M1s]

Upminster endured another frustrating afternoon coming out second best to Bishops Stortford at Coopers. Once again the home side started sluggishly, and some intense running from Stortford saw them go 3-0 up in the first 15 minutes.
The home side came back into the game when Lyndon Ford robbed a defender and coolly slotted past the goalkeeper, before .Dave Hadsley reduced the arrears to one goal shortly afterwards.
At half time the home side felt as though they were in the ascendancy, and pressed strongly at the beginning of the second half before yet another lapse of concentration allowed Stortford to retake their two goal cushion.
Upminster pressed forward and Jamie O’Dell converted a penalty corner, though directly from centre the Upminster team appeared to part like the red sea, allowing the away side to cancel out the hard fought goal.
Lyndon Ford scored again for Upminster, who then conceded a sixth chasing an illusive equaliser.
Though there are definite positives to take from the game for the home side, they know that shoring up their defence and actually turning up to a game in the first 20 minutes is a must if they are going to kick start their season away to Cambridge City 3s next weekend.
