Upminster Men’s 2s remain top of East Div 3SE after a hard fought win away at Witham Men’s 2s.
The home side started much the better and controlled the opening exchanges between then 2 teams with Upminster M2s careless in position and in the final quarter. And the home side took the lead when the Witham forward found the back of net after some poor defending from Upminster.
Just before the break Ethan Berry (Player of the match) deflected in a Rob Bugeya (Defender of the match) pass past the Witham goalkeeper.
After the break Upminster had much more of the possession but failed to capitalise on their dominance until the final 10 minutes when a hit from a PC was deflected past the impressive Witham GK to give Upminster all 3 points.
Upminster Mens 2s now face a huge home fixture this Saturday 25th March when 3rd placed Redbridge & Ilford visit. A win for Upminster should seal them a promotion place going into the final game of the season.
